A to Z: M is for Movies

Being a dog lover, most of my favorite books and movies are about dogs. I love when movies have a dog as the lead role or the main plot is about a dog and person friendship. I think most are drawn to dog movies because dogs are simply entertaining. They fill our lives with love, laughter and most importantly, wagging tails. Some of my favorite dog themed movies include:

-Lady and The Tramp
This was one of my favorites as a kid. It's the cute love story of a rich cocker spaniel falls for a mutt who's living in the streets. The two fall in love over a plate of spaghetti and the rest is history. The sequel is another one of my favorites simply because of the puppies especially Scamp.

-Beethoven
Who doesn't love a movie about a slobbery St Bernard who can't stay out of trouble? My favorite par is when the father eventually falls for Beethoven  and all of his slobber. Also shows kids how hard taking care of dog can really be.

-Because of Winn-Dixie
Girl? Check. Dog? Check! What else could you want? The movie tells the story of a girl who finds a best friend in a stray dog.

-Marley & Me
If your going to watch this one, be prepared for the tears. I read the book long before it was made into a movie and bawled my eyes out, then reread it and cried again. Before I went to the theaters, I mentally prepared myself not to cry, but the tears came anyway. Regardless, the movie/book is a wonderful story about the time and dedication one man put into raising his dog. The best part is the story is based on real-life events.

  4. This is a post after my own heart. I have seen them all except Winn-Dixie and I am going to rectify that lapse soon. My Luci used to be almost Marley-sque as a pup. But she has sobered down a lot :D You can find her here: http://lucisblog.wordpress.com/

  5. I cried so much watching Marley & me, the lady sitting behind me thought I lost a dog too! I was so embarrassed because at the time I didn't even have a dog in my life :)
