Snow Days

How has this winter storm treated you? We had snow on Friday, a nice warm Saturday, a mild Sunday with dropping temperatures, and below freezing temperatures combined with a little snow for yesterday. Today the freeze your butt off temperatures decided to stick around but the temperatures are slowing rising! Dobby and I spent most of yesterday curled up in blankets with a heater running. Since Dobby has short hair he gets cold easily. Luckily he has a closet of sweaters to wear! He wore his green one up until bedtime last night. He didn’t really like having to go out in the cold to do his business either but managed to follow a few bunny trails while he was out.
.We started in the 52 Weeks of Tricks challenge on Facebook. The challenge is to teach your dog 52 new things by the end of the year. Hopefully we’ll be able to stick to the challenge for a whole year! While we’ve been stuck in the house this week, we’ve had plenty of time to work on our trick training.  Dobby has learned to leave food on the ground with the command leave it. Today I was able to spell out his name in dog treats while he laid there!

With his new ability, we’ve also been working on holding a treat on his nose. This trick has proved to be more difficult because his nose isn’t very flat and I find it hard to even balance the treat there. I have to place the treat almost between his eyes to get it to stay but so far he has been able to keep it there for 30 seconds. We’ll get there! I hope that one day I’ll be able to lay milk bones on his nose like a Jenga board.
